A driver's licence is a permit which allows you to operate a motor vehicle legally. The vehicle you bring to your driver's test will determine the type of licence you will receive. There are three basic types:
- Motorcycle Licence: A person holding a motorcycle licence is allowed to (only) operate a motorcycle.
- Private Licence: Private licences come in two classifications: automatic only and automatic and standard. A person holding a private licence is allowed to drive a car, pick-up truck, van, sport-utility vehicle or any other automobile.
- General Licence - A person holding a general licence
is allowed to drive trucks, public passenger vehicles, and
commercial vehicles. However, please note that a person
cannot drive a public passenger vehicle unless such information
is stipulated on the licence.
